Non-piercing Acupuncture & Acupressure

Acupuncture is one of the most popular forms of complementary therapy in the UK with milllions of acupuncture treatments taking place anually. It is used by physiotherapists, osteopaths, dentists and medical doctors to relieve common ailments, alleviate pain, assist pregnancy and labour, help overcome addictions, increase energy and promote general health.

Acupuncture needling and acupressure both form part of Applied Kinesiology. The term 'acupuncture' is derived from the Latin word 'acus' (needle) and the English 'puncture', implying that a needle puncture is neccesary in the application of acupuncture. In reality, acupuncture as it is known today is of ancient Chinese origin and have always used various methods of stimulating the points on the meridians, commonly known as acupuncture points. At Helix Health, needling is not done. Acupuncture points are stimulated through the use of acu-patches (small magnets), a teishein (non-piercing needle), digital pressure (acupressure) or acupoint tapping.
